Why Short Form Video?

Source: https://influencermarketinghub.com/short-form-video-content/

Let's look through examples of how you can use short form video (IG Reels, Tiktok, Youtube Shorts) to promote your freebie and get people on your email list & NO you do not need to have an email list to get started but you will have one after following some of the tips in this video.

I’m going to break down 3 different types of videos you can create about your FREEBIE to speak to all different types of buyers & all people at all different points along their journey. Now it’s really important that you do not overthink what I am about to share with you. There is no RIGHT way to promote your freebie nor is there a RIGHT way to market it. Create in a way that feels FUN & expressive to you first and foremost.

This blog will be broken down into two main parts:

  1. Types and Examples of Short Form Video
  2. Call to Actions

The types that I will walk you through are simply examples to get your gears turning - all are not required and some types may work better for you than others so stay focused on YOUR goals and not what everyone around you is doing. Marketing is also all about testing so be sure that you don’t have the one post and done mentality - create many many posts about it. Try different formats & calls to actions. Marketing is about testing to see what works so get creative & remember that all progress is progress.

Let’s look at the four types of short form videos we can create & some examples of them as well!

Features & Walkthrough Videos

Features and walkthrough videos are EXACTLY what they sound like.

You are using short videos (7 seconds and 90 seconds) to highlight a cool feature of your freebie or to walk them through how your freebie works.

Features & walkthrough videos work GREAT when your freebie is something that people are going to USE like a planner, tracker, template, journal prompts, courses etc. If it’s a digital download simply PRINT it out and film yourself using it if it’s a printable (no your face doesn’t need to be in it) & if it’s something more like a course - film yourself watching the course videos or simply take a video as you walk through it.

These walkthrough wills speak directly to the logical buyers in your audience by giving them all the details they need to know before they download your thing.

Here are some prompts to get you thinking:

→ My FAVOURITE thing about the (Freebie Name) …

→ The most USEFUL thing about the (Freebie Name)…

→ The most LOVED part of (freebie name)…

→ THIS feature inside my (freebie name) makes my tracker different…

→ Here’s exactly how I (do what your freebie helps them do) with the help of (your freebie name)

Outcomes & Results Videos

Outcomes & Post Download Video’s are by far my favourite to create because their easy to do & they leverage people’s desires instead of their pain to support them in taking action. The idea is to give your community a snapshot of what;’s possible when they have your freebie. You can use this strategy many many many times before it gets old & while you can use videos of yourself they also work well with looping videos.

To come up with ideas I want you to ask yourself “In what ways might their life / business change once they download and implement this?”

These posts really speak to those emotional buyers and decision makers.

Let’s cover some examples to get you thinking:

The EASIEST way to do this style of post is using the POV or Point of View Trend…

→ POV - You’re able to quickly finish craft projects because you’ve organized your crafting space with my free “Craft Organization System” PDF Guide

→ POV - Your kids sit down every day for quiet reading time because you implemented my no tears reading PDF Guide

→ POV - You know exactly what to create in your Bullet Journal because you downloaded my 100+ Bullet Journal Ideas Guide & Video Walk Through

→ POV - You have a years worth of food stored in the pantry that you grew yourself

→ POV -You’re creating the BEST “freebie type” for “who it’s for”

Another fun one is “Imaging the plot twist…

→ Imagine the plot twist… You save $3000 in 2 months & are no longer stressed about x

& A crowd pleaser “People keep asking me how I…

→ People keep asking me how I “Problem your freebie solves” …

→ People keep asking me how I keep track of all my chores so here it is…

→ People keep asking me how I do my hair so let’s go over it together

Problem Awareness Videos

Problem awareness videos can be very helpful when marketing your freebies because it immediately positions YOUR freebie as the solution. The idea here is to speak directly to the problems your client is facing in the moment & present them with a solution to it.

The question you want to ask your self is “what problems does my freebie solve?” & “What are the symptoms of those problems my client is facing” or what is my client EXPERIENCING because they haven’t downloaded my freebie”?

→ You can even ask “what are my people telling me that they’re struggling with?”

This post speaks directly to people who are READY to find a solution & take action.

Let’s look at some examples:

→ You say … “What your client says that sucks”

→ Here’s how to solve that problem

→ If you find yourself …. “challenge their facing” → I’ve been there, I can help

→ Did you know that “what your client is experiencing” is actually a result of “problem you solve” → What if I told you that you didn’t have to experience “ challenging thing their experiencing”

→ REMINDER - Your office wants you to work in it but you aren’t making it easy for yourself to be there.

→ REMINDER - thinking “am I good enough” all the time is a sign of low self esteem (which you can build right now)

→ An excuse your client gives… “ But I don’t have enough time to organize my closet”

Now that we have some examples & the ideas FLOWING let’s talk call to actions!

Call to Actions that Convert

Call to actions are just like the videos themselves you have to TEST what works for you & then double down on the method providing you the most results.

What important - especially with short form video - is that you DO NOT burry the call to action somewhere random in your video or caption you want it to be CLEAR to your audience exactly what you’re offering them & tell them exactly what to do to get it.

Let’s walk through the CTA strategies from most to least effective:

CTA ONE: Comment “x” below for the link

This CTA prompts your audience to comment a specific word like “plan” in the comments section to let YOU know that you should send them the link.

This works well because they can comment right away to tell you that they want it & doesn’t require them to stop their scroll to go to the link in your bio, sign up etc to get it.

With super large audiences this strategy is best automated so you don’t have to reply to a ton of people but if you have a small to medium sized community this strategy works great.

Once they’ve commented on the video you’ll simply DM them with the link. I recommend writing out a standard reply with the link in your notes app to copy and paste or you can set it up as a chat shortcut on Instagram if that’s your main platform.

This strategy has allowed us to grow over 500 email subs in 3 months & has been very effective for our community as well ( one student had 500 course signups in 3 days with this strategy)

CTA TWO: Link in bio

Telling people to go to your link in bio (especially if you have a million links in there) isn’t always the most effective call to action but it can work if your links are well named ( and clearly mentioned in your caption), or if you have very few links for your people to sort through. If you are someone who has a LOT of links in their bio for people to click on - I recommend updating your link in your bio to a direct link to your freebie landing page temporarily while you’re promoting your freebie.

Honestly with the EASE of creating short form video it opens up a world of possibility for your online business. The important thing to remember is to have FUN with it, try new things, think of every video like an experiement & the more you create them - the better you will get at them so challenge yourself to do them consistently until you find what works.
