Organic Social Media Marketing Strategy for 2023 (Part 1)

I want to start off by being frank: If you're making less than $5-10k per month and you don't have time to execute this level-one organic marketing strategy you're spending your time focused on the WRONG things in your business. If you're making less than $1k per month or zero dollars and you don't have time to execute this strategy --- you're really off track.

Now that we have expectations set, let's dive into it.

Content must come first. Without good quality content, you have no customers. Without customers, you have no business. When you create good quality content & you use each platform as it's meant to be used a steady stream of leads come into your business ready to work with you.

Types of Organic Marketing Platforms

First, let's talk organic marketing platforms. There are two types of platforms, nurture, and outreach.

Nurture Organic Marketing Platforms: Instagram and Facebook

A nurture platform in the context of organic social media marketing refers to a system or strategy that focuses on building and maintaining relationships with followers and potential customers over time. (Aka building a strong, connected community!) It involves providing valuable and engaging content, actively interacting with the audience, and fostering a sense of community.

At its core, a nurture platform aims to cultivate a loyal and engaged audience by consistently delivering relevant and meaningful content. This includes sharing informative articles, entertaining videos, inspirational stories, or any other type of content that aligns with the creator's values and resonates with the target audience. By consistently providing value, a nurture platform builds trust and credibility, establishing the brand as a reliable source of information and expertise. (You've heard of know/like/trust...this helps build like and trust!)

Community-Building with Nurture Platforms

In addition to content creation, actually engaging with the community you are building is essential. This involves responding to comments, answering questions, and participating in conversations. By actively listening and engaging with followers, you can foster a sense of community and make individuals feel valued and heard. This interaction also allows you to gather feedback, gain insights, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Nurture platforms are about more than being seen and going viral. Instead, they focus on building long-term relationships and nurturing leads into loyal customers. By consistently delivering valuable content, actively engaging with the audience, and fostering a sense of community, a nurture platform can drive brand awareness, enhance customer loyalty, and ultimately contribute to the growth and success of a business.

Outreach Organic Marketing Platforms: TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest

An outreach platform in the context of organic social media marketing refers to a tool or strategy used to reach and connect with a broader audience outside of the brand's existing followers. It is designed to expand the brand's reach, generate new leads, and increase brand visibility. This is where you see things like virality being big, but community engagement not always being a focus.

The primary function of an outreach platform is to identify and engage with individuals or communities who may have an interest in your products or services. TikTok, YouTube, and Pinterest are popular social media platforms that can serve as effective outreach platforms for organic social media marketing.

Organic Outreach with TikTok

TikTok, with its short-form video content format, has gained tremendous popularity among younger audiences. Brands can leverage TikTok's massive user base and creative features to reach and engage with a wider audience. By creating entertaining and engaging videos that align with their brand identity, businesses can capture the attention of TikTok users and potentially go viral, leading to increased brand visibility and awareness.

Organic Outreach with YouTube

YouTube, as one of the largest video-sharing platforms, offers a powerful medium to reach a global audience. With its diverse content categories and user-generated content, YouTube allows you to create educational, entertaining, or promotional videos to connect with viewers. By optimizing video content with relevant keywords, engaging thumbnails, and compelling titles, you can improve your discoverability and attract new viewers who may have an interest in your products or services.

Organic Outreach with Pinterest

Pinterest, on the other hand, is a visual discovery platform that focuses on inspiration and idea sharing. It's possible to leverage Pinterest to showcase products, create visually appealing content, and engage with users who are actively searching for inspiration or solutions. By creating eye-catching pins, optimizing descriptions with keywords, and organizing boards around specific themes or interests, you can attract users who are looking for ideas and drive traffic to their website or online store.

An outreach platform is crucial for organic social media marketing as it enables brands to expand their reach, connect with new audiences, and create opportunities for growth. By strategically leveraging various outreach methods, brands can enhance their brand visibility, generate new leads, and ultimately increase their customer base and revenue.

How to Combine Nurture and Outreach Platforms for an Effective Social Media Strategy

You may be thinking, "That's great, but how am I supposed to be everywhere all of the time??"

You aren't.

I used just a nurture platform for the first three years of my business to drive sales & you can still do that too. But if you want social media to work for you in the long run, and not against you then you'll need to combine the two types of platforms to get maximum reach and conversions.

Here is the level 1 organic social media marketing strategy that I would use if I were starting from zero.

Nurture Platform: Instagram

Post 2-3 times per week on your feed. Carousels or static images that either make people aware of the problem their facing, educate your client on how, or show your client what's possible when they work with you. 1 trending reel a week.

Post & sell daily in your Instagram Stories.

Focus on starting conversations & building deep connections with people.

Outreach Platform: Tiktok

Post 1-3 times per day. I know it might sound like a lot, but here's how to make it easy:

  • Try one trending audio or "lazy TikTok"
  • One post should show the results you can get.
  • One post to educate your community on a topic.

Update your bio to drive people to your Instagram and tell people to join your IG community. This will help you build further relationships with the people who follow you over there.

Create Better, Lasting Results by Combining Platforms with Different Purposes

The result when you follow this strategy? You'll create content today that will continue to build your business and client base for years to come.

By leveraging nurture platforms, you can engage with your current followers, provide them with valuable content, and foster a sense of community. This approach helps build trust, loyalty, and brand advocacy, leading to increased customer retention and word-of-mouth referrals.

On the other hand, outreach platforms allow you to tap into new audiences and reach individuals who may not be aware of your brand. This helps expose your brand to a wider range of potential customers, generate new leads, and increase brand visibility.

When combining the two types of platforms, your social media strategy becomes more holistic and comprehensive. The nurturing aspect ensures that you continuously engage and provide value to your existing audience, while the outreach efforts expand your brand's reach and attract new prospects.

Before you know it, clients will find you "out of nowhere" --- in reality, they'll be from another social channel. For example, someone joined our world yesterday because she saw one of our pins on Pinterest, then watched our youtube video, joined our email list & then registered for one of our programs.
